OrgSeries Grouping Installation

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Organize Series Grouping Setup

Remember that Organize Series Grouping is an addon for Organize Series so you want to make sure Organize Series is activated first.  Once that is done:

  • Once you’ve downloaded the archive file from here you can use your builtin WordPress Plugin manager to upload and install the plugin right from your WordPress Administration area
  • Once it is downloaded/installed activate the plugin.

That’s It!  Enjoy :)

  1. The Organize Series Group’s URLs are not working at all. I press the View button and the wordpress answer is: Sorry, there is nothing here. Maybey a search wil help you…

    Please help!

PS i am thinking on buying the organize series multiples add-on from you, but if it will not work for me, I will not see any reason to do it…

  2. I am having difficulty understanding how I would use the OrgSeries grouping add-on.

Could you provide some examples of what we could do with this add-on please?

    • Have you read this post? In the Organize Series Grouping FAQ I give an overview of what Organize Series Grouping does and a couple examples. I use it here on organizeseries.com as well to help organize the support docs. For example each of the headings on that page is actually a “series group” and the subheadings are the series attached to that group.

  3. I’m sorry, let me clarify a bit.

Here is my existing Organize Series layout:

    John Doe
    Post 1
    Post 2
    Post 3

    Jane Doe
    Post 1
    Post 2
    Post 3

    Bill Smith
    Post 1
    Post 2
    Post 3

    Mary Smith
    Post 1
    Post 2
    Post 3

Here is what I want to implement:

    Doe Family

    John Doe
    Subject 1
    Post1
    Post2
    Post3
    Subject 2
    Post1
    Post2
    Post3

    Smith Family

    Bill Smith
    Subject 1
    Post1
    Post2
    Post3
    Subject 2
    Post1
    Post2
    Post3

What product(s) do I need in order to implement the proposed hierarchy?

    • Series Groups can be hierarchical but keep in mind there is still some work that needs done in order to get the output the way you want.

However, taking “Smith Family” as an example:

“Smith Family” = series group top level parent
“Bill Smith” = series group child of “Smith Family”
“Subject 1″, “Subject 2″ = series that are assigned to the “Bill Smith” series group.
“Post1, Post 2 etc.” = posts assigned to the individual “Subject 1, Subject 2 etc” series.

  4. Finally, do OrgSeries Multiples and OrgSeries Grouping add-ons work well together?

    • They have for me. But I MUST emphasize, that Organize Series Grouping at the moment, does not have templating and theme integration out of the box. There will be some work required to have any forward facing pages display they way you want. If you aren’t comfortable working with PHP and WordPress themes then you’ll be frustrated. Organize Series Multiples however does integrate well out of the box with most themes.

I created the Organize Series Grouping addon primarily as a result of developers asking for the functionality. There’s some pretty complex stuff happening under the hood that makes it more difficult to integrate with the WordPress themeing system in the same way that Organize Series and Organize Series multiples does.

  5. Well I think that is ok as long as the Grouping add-on will include templating and theme integration in a future release.

Nice to know Multiples will benefit our visitors right away too.

    Thank you so much!
