Core and Addon Updates – update before the WordPress 4.2 release!

A new version of Organize Series core has just been released (2.4.8) along with an update to the Organize Series Multiples add-on (1.1) and the Organize Series Grouping add-on (2.2.2).  These updates mostly contain minor fixes however I wanted to get them out now ahead of the WordPress 4.2 release.  WordPress 4.2 is introducing some changes to how their taxonomy system works and I’ve verified that all Organize Series add-ons are working great with the current code base of WordPress 4.2 (which is still in development).  However, there are a couple minor tweaks needed, so this is a proactive release to make sure users will have the same quality experience with Organize Series they are used to when WordPress 4.2 ships.

I do test things carefully, but as always, I’m unable to account for every possible usage of this plugin family out in the wild, so if after upgrading please get in touch with me with any issues you encounter and I’ll try to get fixed as soon as possible.

Two updates in the Organize Series family

Hey all, just a quick post to let you know Organize Series Core and Organize Series Multiples has been updated.  These releases both mostly take care of fixing PHP notices and warnings.  However there’s also a change to the way series parts works.  Now you can assign series parts to a post that is unpublished and it should stick.  Very useful if you are planning out your series in advance.

Important notice to Basic Support Package subscribers.

This is an important notice to all Organize Series users who are hold a basic support subscription (or other package that includes basic support).  To streamline our support offering we are no longer offering forum based support hosted on orgseries-web.dev.  Going forward, all support is offered via direct communication and while logged in to the website, you can access the form here to get started on letting us know of your support related issue.

Why the change?

  1. Usage of the forums was minimal.  We found that users initiated communication with us via our existing contact form and then we tried to redirect to the forums with most attempts at this resulting in poor feedback.  So we’re listening!  Most Organize Series users seem to prefer support via email.
  2. We weren’t planning on making the switch so soon, however a recent update to the orgseries-web.dev website broke some of the connections we have with the old version of bbPress used to host our support forums.  Since this version is no longer maintained we felt it was more secure, and a better use of our time to make the switch now.

We’re attempting to contact all basic support users directly, but we decided to make this post just in case we missed a few.
