  4. [series_meta]

[series_meta]

shortcode: [series_meta][/series_meta]

parameters: series

What it does: Outputs the series meta information for a particular series. The default layout (style of the output) is determined by what you have in the “Series Meta” template found on the Series Options page.

Usage:

1. [series_meta] if the post you add this shortcode to is a part of a series, then the series meta will be output for that series using the default layout found on the “Series Meta” template in the series options page.

2. [series_meta series={series_id}]same as above EXCEPT the series output will be for the series_id you indicate here.  If you use the series_meta shortcode button in the visual editor then you can select the series from list of series in the dropdown and the series ID will automatically be entered.

 3. [series_meta]Part %series_part% of %total_posts_in_series% in the series %series_title%[/series_meta]– the content between the “series_meta” tags is what will be used for the custom series meta template instead of what is in the series options page.  You can use the %tokens% found in the legend on the series options page.  In this case, the custom series meta will be for the series the post (the shortcode is inserted into) belongs to.  If it is not assigned to a series then you will not get expected results.
In this case if the series the post belongs to is “Cheeseburgers” and the part this post is in the series is “4” and there are a total of 10 posts in the series, the resulting output (when the post is rendered in the front end)  in this case would be:

“Part 4 of 10 in the series Cheeseburgers”

Note you can use html to surround the custom series meta template but the html would have to be entered in via the HTML tab OR in the content box via the series_meta shortcode button in the visual editor.

4.  [series_meta series={series_id}]Part %series_part% of %total_posts_in_series% in the series %series_title%[/series_meta] – same as above except the series information will be taken from the series id parameter.  IF you use the series_meta button via the visual editor you can select the series from a list of series in the dropdown and the series ID will automatically be entered in the rendered shortcode.
